Aye, aye, aye, I’m on vacation… or not. Since we’re still stuck in this twisted reality, vacations and adventures have new connotations. In the dead of winter a dreamy, luxe beach vacation seems rejuvenating, but setting sail could have more consequences than benefits.

So is it possible to escape/embrace the frigid temperatures and come back to the Zoom office feeling fresher than ever? Well, yeah, duh. But if you’ve run out of brilliant ideas to say bon voyage to the current snow situation, then have no fear because I surely haven’t. Here are few adventures to embark on this winter.

Go Sledding

Let’s bring back some ole fashioned fun, shall we? Bundle up, grab that garbage can lid and hit the slopessssssssss! To make sledding an even more exhilarating experience, take a few PBRs or IPAs of choice and make it a small group activity.

Besides the thrill of making it down the hill in one piece (knock on wood), sledding is also one hell of a workout. It’s even been said to burn over 450 calories in as little as an hour. Get outside, catch some thrills and sled your heart out!

R&R For Real

So instead of embarking on a vacation with the hassle of flights, reservations and all that jazz, why not bring the relaxation home? Take your next day off and really make it your day. Now, a day off doesn’t have to mean becoming a couch potato for 8+ hours instead catch up on some much-needed sleep, practice some meditation, get a massage or try some yoga to get back to a restful mindset.

Science experts even say that relaxing at home boosts your immune system, restores mental energy and boosts creativity. Fighting work fatigue can be as easy as putting in a simple request for some R&R.

Take a Driving Tour Around Town

While it may not match the sight-seeing you can do in Europe or The Caribbean, taking a driving tour around your hometown can unlock many hidden treasures you never knew existed. As silly as it sounds, becoming a tourist in your own town gives off the same vibes that a vacation does.

Discover a new restaurant, bakery or grocery store (it’s okay, we all pick favorites). Variety is the spice of life, so spice it up!

Try Skiing/Snowboarding

Chances are you either know how to ski but it’s been a while or the idea of having foreign objects strapped to your feet terrifies the crap out of you. Either is a perfectly suitable reason to pick up the sport! No need to venture to the Rockies or Park City to make a ski-cation possible.

Head to your local mountain with a head full of hope and powder dreams. Don’t be afraid to take a lesson or two if need be. Experts agree that skiing or snowboarding is an instant mood booster and boost Vitamin-D intake.

Pandemic Adventures Are Possible

While these ideas may not match the epic trip from years prior, it’s still possible to reach the same nirvana mindset in your hometown. Restart, refresh and rejuvenate with a 2021 version of a vacation. Now’s the time to take advantage of the simpler things in life, so go on and hit the slopes (or couch)… you’ll thank me later!
